Is there Truth to Manifestation? 

I live in an area where people talk about manifestation a lot. When I saw it in the Bible (see John 17:6 below) I asked God the question “What is manifestation? It seems to be working for a lot of people. What do You say about it?”

This is what I believe He responded… 

As the world seeks purpose and meaning they are actually desperately seeking Me. 

They believe that when they find Me I will give them what they want, which is close but slightly off. When My people, whether they know Me or not, seek Me, connect with Me, look for Me, whether they know My name or not….they find Me. When they find Me I begin to manifest in this world around them. It can appear like they are manifesting things around, in and through themselves but the truth is they are connecting with Me – pure love, pure power, pure gift giver – and this connection naturally (or supernaturally more accurately) begins the manifestation of Me into this world. They begin to experience that which they have desired all their lives.

The trick, then, is to keep seeking Me and connecting with Me. So often attention moves away from Me and onto that which manifested…but then the connection to Me weakens and the manifestation, the energy, love, power, the source of all desired…decreases. 

Then, naturally (or supernaturally) the attention returns to seeking and connecting with Me and the manifestation of My love, power, and giftings strengthen again. 
It looks a lot like the power of attraction but it is slightly different. 

I know this may offend many but “blessed is the one who is not offended by Me.” Mt 11:6

The Pharisees were highly offended by Jesus as He spoke Truth and manifested God to His people “I have manifested Your name to the people whom You gave Me out of the world.” John 17:6 ESV

If you feel offended by what I am saying I encourage you to trust Me more and dig deeper with Me and ask Me the hard questions you have for Me. Facing them and bringing them into the light feels like the potential destruction of our relationship but it is actually what challenges and strengthens it. 

You build muscle by challenging it, “tearing” it and rebuilding it even stronger. 

If I am real, you cannot destroy Me by questioning who I am. 
I do not change 
But your perception and 
understanding may,
and it brings a
greater truth into 
this world and 
into your life

Do not turn away from Me in fear of the unknown. Turn toward Me, in awe of My power, might, and perfect love that casts out all fear (1 Jn 4:18)

If you want a declaration to help remember all of this….

“I am here to be loved by God
and all else manifests from 
this loving relationship”

So many of us wonder how, in such a busy world, with so many demands on our time, we are to rest in God. Aren’t we supposed to make things happen? Shouldn’t we have a 3,5 and 10 year plan with step by step goals to each? 

I asked God “What does it mean to rest in you?”

He responded: 

Many people wonder what it means to rest in Me. Some think it is simply sitting and waiting, others say they have to be actively on the edge of their seat ready to act at any moment. But rest has more to do with the posture you take with Me. Resting with Me means really believing without a shadow of a doubt that I will act on your behalf no matter what. It means you can trust Me to help you make the right decisions, at the right time, and the outcome will be good, not because the world thinks it is good but because I am good. There is a difference. Resting in Me puts My definition of good ahead of anyone else’s. It means you trust Me fully and completely so that no outcome jars you or creates fear, doubt, or uncertainty. This is what resting in Me really means. 

I know it is hard for you to get there though, so you can rest in Me to know that I know this about you and will take care of what you cannot. When I ask you to do something, I never mean for you to go off and do it yourself. Never! That goes against My primary desire for My creation – to know you and be in relationship with you. When I ask you to do something my hope is for you to simply turn to me and say…”Great, how do you want to do that together?” It is My desire to know you better and for you to get to know Me better each day.

So resting in Me looks like this…

“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)

Your part:
Come to Me

My part:
I will give you rest. It isn’t for you to seek out or search for, it is for Me to give to you. 

Your part: 
Simply receive the yoke I am offering you. Imagine it is like you being a little kid and your loving, kind, gentle, parent sees you are cold and offers to put a sweater on you. You are too young to put the sweater on yourself so you come over to them and stand still long enough for them to put the sweater over your head and help you find the armholes so you can put your arms through. That is what receiving My yoke is like. 

My part: 
Holding the yoke out to you and making sure it fits you perfectly so it is easy and light for you. 

Your part: 
Spend time with Me and notice how I do things. This is how you learn from Me as we walk through life together.

My part: 
As I teach you I will be gentle and encouraging

Your part: 
Enjoy the rest your soul feels.

This is very similar to what I share in the Q&R article about “Why Suffering?” They go together very closely. A great deal of suffering comes when My people do not rest in Me.
