august 12 - Daily message - 1 John 4:19

I believe this is a message from God, written from His perspective - Sherri

1 John 4:19 ESV “We love because He first loved us.”

Why is this verse so important?

It prevents many of the lies the enemy tells us. Lies like:

• I am not wanted
• I am not loved
• God doesn’t really love you
• I have to work and earn love
• I will be loved if I ________ (do the right thing, don’t sin, weigh the right amount, have the right job, etc.)
• I am unlovable

It also prevents the most dangerous thing that Christians to do others. They attempt to live out the commands of the bible from their own power, energy, and love. This is dangerous because this was never the intent. When Christians obey My commands to love and serve other people and do it from themselves as the source then they represent Me in human ways and with human frailty. They drain themselves and leave themselves open for attacks from the enemy.

But there is a better way! Better for everyone because it is how I designed this creation:

1. Receive My love, knowing I loved you before you ever existed. This only takes a moment, a quick shift in perspective. Feel yourself filling up with My love. Receive forgiveness for all your sins – it has already been given. Don’t let your sin block My love for you! Receive My forgiveness and My love.
   1. Bonus passage: Read Psalm 104 to deepen the learning if you have time and desire. It is not required!
   2. Bonus assignment: Write out Psalm 103:11-12
2. From the place of being loved first, go love others and live out these verses…Luke 6:37-38a ESV with the emphasis on “…given to you”
3. Live the life promised…Luke 6:38b ESV with the emphasis on “good measure…”

​Prayer: Dear Lord, I receive Your love freely and with great gratitude knowing You loved me before I even knew You. Please help me live from a place of Your love and strength, letting go of all my sin and attempting to live from my own love and strength. Amen
