august 26 - daily message - Genesis 8:13

I believe this is a message to us from God, written from His perspective – Sherri ​

​Genesis 8:13 ESV “In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried from off the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked and behold, the face of the ground was dry.”
 
Does it ever feel like what you are waiting for, wanting so desperately, will never happen.
Imagine being on the ark, having watched the entire world decimated, every friend and neighbor … gone… except the family surrounding you. Imagine looking at all the animals, hearing them every day, wondering why I chose this as a way to restart the world.
 
Wouldn’t it have been easier to wipe everything out and speak the animals into existence again? Why such a rudimentary and “natural” way to restore the earth? There must be a better way. Imagine the days upon days of being cooped up on the arc, stuck with the same people, surrounded by noises and smells, with no way of knowing when it would end…trying to be grateful – after all, you are one of the few to survive the complete destruction.
 
Imagine the pressure – wondering – why me? Why was I chosen to repopulate the earth?
 
And then imagine the long days wondering when…when would the land be dry enough to step out into again? What will be involved in rebuilding everything? Where will we land? Will we recognize anything? Will we be in the same region or maybe across the world from where we were before.
 
But the strongest question of all. When? When will this end, and the huge new beginning start?
 
Look how specific the day is that I chose. 601st year, first month, first day. It was selected for a reason. It was selected specifically for the day that began to mark time again on the earth.
 
Know that I see you. I see your questions, frustrations, and struggles. I see and hear your questions of “when”, and I have a plan. A good plan that leads to good things (Jeremiah 29:11) and restores all that was taken away (Jeremiah 29:14).
 
You can trust Me. I know what I am doing. I have a plan and a purpose, and you are an important part of it. I have the specific day marked on the “calendar”. The day the land will be dry to step out onto so you can start your new beginning.
 
Trust Me. I have a plan!
 
Prayer:
Dear Lord, the waiting is grueling. You have laid out such amazing plans and given me glimpses of the greatness of Your plan. Help me trust. Help me choose to enjoy Your Presence and rest in Your arms rather than pining away for what is to come. Amen.
