What I believe God shared about Genesis 4:
What I want to point out in this passage is not the normal preaching of the day but something much more subtle. Different translations emphasize different things within this passage so let’s look at the New Living Testament and Berean Standard Bible versions because they show a subtlety that some others do not (available at www.BibleHub.com). As you read each of these passages look at the heart posture of Abel and Cain:

• First read Genesis 4:3-5 in the New Living Testament version found here. 
• Second read Genesis 4:3-4 in the Berean Standard Bible Version found here.

Do you see the subtlety? Cain presents “some of his crops” and Abel brings “the best portions of the firstborn”

Many wonder if I did not appreciate that Cain brought fruit of the ground and I preferred Abel’s blood sacrifice. Yes, this is foreshadowing the entire sacrificial system and the eventual death and resurrection of Jesus. However, in this passage, what displeased me was the Cain brought an offering from some of his crops as though it was an imposition or a casual gift whereas Abel worshipped Me and brought me the best of the firstborn of his flock. Do you see what I am truly looking for? It is not animal sacrifice vs grain sacrifice. Both of these were offered to Me in the sacrificial system described later in the bible. It is that Abel’s sacrifice was acceptable to Me because he brought that which was most important to me…his heart devoted to Me. This is what I truly want.

Please, when I point out things in your life that are not fully pleasing to Me, as I did Cain, do not become angry, hard hearted, and turn away from My Presence as Cain did. Instead, turn toward Me and lean into Me further and more completely and learn from Me what I want. What I want for you is what you want for you! Cain wanted to be in My Presence, but when I let him know that his offering was half-hearted he did not take the correction, instead he let anger control him and he was removed from My Presence.

Notice the other part of this chapter that is so essential…

1. Verse 15: I continue to protect Cain even though he has left My Presence, out of My deep love for him.
2. Verse 17: He is the father of Enoch.

Why is the 2nd point so important? The heart posture I desired for Cain was quickly restored in the next generation, for Enoch was so dedicated to Me that he came to Me without having to die. He was faithful and dedicated to Me the way I desired Cain to be. How quickly generational sin can be restored! Please remember this and allow the generational sin to end with you rather than move onto the next generation.

My Presence is available to you. I hope you choose to walk in it with Me daily! This gives me great pleasure and is the greatest gift and sacrifice you can give Me.

What I believe God shared about Genesis 3: 
The greatest desire of humans is to be like God and to be wise (Genesis 3:5 and 6). This is exactly what I want for you also. I do not want to withhold anything from you but when you attempt to be like Me without Me or when you try to find wisdom yourself then you run into problems. To this day I do not withhold anything from you that leads you to be like Me, nor do I withhold wisdom from those who seek it. It may come to you in ways that are unexpected, but I never withhold it.

Proverbs 3:5  gives the antidote for all that was done in that moment in the garden. “Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.” (ESV) You can see that their eyes were opened in Genesis 3:7 and now I ask you to close your eyes to your own knowledge that tells you that you are naked, and instead not to be wise in your own eyes but fear Me and turn away from evil. No, your eyes are not evil. I created them, how can they be evil, but when you try to be like Me and when you try to trust in yourself and find wisdom in yourself you end up being wise in your own eyes which leads to seeing from a perspective of evil instead of a perspective if perfection.

This is important because look what is caused by wanting to be Me and to be wise without My direct guidance and presence…Genesis 8 “the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” It causes you to want to hide from Me and to be away from My presence. Here is an important point. My Presence is what keeps you safe. My Presence is what causes you to be like Me. My Presence is what causes you to be wise. My Presence is what allows you to fear Me the way I desire you to fear Me, which is what is absolutely best for you.

Resist evil and simply be in My Presence. Don’t be afraid as the Israelites were afraid of being in My Presence. They wanted Moses to be their intermediary because they were scared of Me and so they did not come as close to Me as they could. Joshua was an exception to this because he stood outside the tent of meeting where Moses and I talked face to face (Exodus 33:11) and then he went into the tent to be in My Presence after Moses and I talked. Be like Joshua. I know this will bother many of you but don’t worry about getting all the religious stuff right. Don’t be concerned about every command and everything you need to do in order to be My people. Yes, of course theses are very important but they all come from one thing. My Presence. When you are in My Presence it is possible to obey all of My commands. When you are not in My Presence it simply is not. 

Fear Me – it is the beginning of all wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). But don’t be afraid of Me, just fear Me. You want wisdom, but what you really want is My Presence which leads to being like Me and it leads to the very wisdom you desire. You do not desire the wisdom of the world. You desire the wisdom available to you from the Garden of Eden, the wisdom of heaven. This is the wisdom you desire so fear Me and find this wisdom.

I will open your eyes to My beauty and the very thing you desire most. Turn away from evil and let Me be your God. Simply enjoy Me and My Presence and if you have a hard time finding My Presence do anything in your power to find someone who can help you connect with Me and really experience Me directly. There are plenty of people to help with this. I have created them specifically to help. Seek them out, test them, and reward them generously for the incredible thing they are doing for you and for the world. My prophets connect you to Me and My words. They are here to help. Be generous with them and honor them, for I will honor you too. (Matthew 10:41).

What I believe God shared about Genesis 2: 
There is so much to share in this chapter and yet I want to focus on a couple of things that often get overlooked.

First, notice that in verse 8 it says “And the Lord God planted a garden” ESV. Imagine what that looked like. There were no seeds or starts to plant. There was nothing at all, and yet I planted a garden. Have you ever considered what that would be like? Think about how seeds work now. You take a tiny seed and put it in the ground and water it, provide it with some sun and hopefully fresh air and it simply grows. Have you ever thought about how miraculous that is? It is so common, you see it every single day and it happens so regularly that you don’t think about it and yet, it is truly a crazy concept. How can planting a tiny seed into the ground cause a huge oak tree to end up in that very spot.

Now imagine it being even more crazy…there wasn’t even a seed to start from, and it seems like something I would do, but what about all the other seeds that have been planted. Do you really think something happens biologically on its own to cause the seed to become a sprout and then a seedling and then a plant and then, eventually, a mighty tree? It is ludicrous to think this happens without Me doing the work. Sure, it is common, and I am consistent in making things grow from seeds, but it does not change the fact that it makes no sense whatsoever.

Notice in verse 15 that I put Adam, who I “grew” from the dust, also without a seed, into the garden to work it. I wanted him to see the beauty of the miraculous. I wanted him to care for the things I created, to experience what it is like to see a miracle each and every day as these plants grow. I wanted him to know what it was like to be created from the dust and also see other things grow from the dirt and yet know that he was different, special.

The plants can’t care for themselves or each other. The plants can’t move around or walk through the garden with Me. They can only grow in the place where I plant them. They are beautiful and unique, but they are not like human beings. In this chapter I differentiate between human beings and all other things created. It is good to recognize that I created Adam to tend to these things, to show that he is unique and special, unlike any other creature or plant created.

Now notice that Eve was made from Adam’s rib. It is like his rib was a seed, and yet it is still as remarkable that she was created from a small portion of Adam. Again, this is a miracle and could only be explained by Me being intimately involved in the situation.

Do you see what I am saying? So many things happen around you every single day that are normal and so you miss the miracle of it all. Water falls from the sky and waters the lands, seeds turn into plants, trees, fruit, vegetables, even seeds and eggs come together to make human beings. Yes, everyone thinks this is so normal because it happens all the time, but if you really think about it, each person who has ever been born is truly a miracle.

Look deeper into it and you will see Me even more as you search for Me…or you can assume it is a natural thing that does not involve me and close your eyes to the miracles happening all around you.

It is your choice and the way you experience life will be dependent on what you choose to see.

Intro:
Recently, I believe God shared with me that He would love to enhance my relationship with Him and, hopefully, others too as I read the Bible from cover to cover. He suggested I simply read a passage in multiple versions and then write down what I believe He is saying. 

That is the idea of this blog. I do my best not to interpret anything but to simply allow God to write messages to Me for whomever is reading. So far I have found it VERY interesting and surprising. I hope you enjoy it!

What I believe God shared about Genesis 1:
Let’s not get caught up at this moment in the controversies related to the creation. It is a stumbling block for so many, and it is an argument that has been covered by many. It is extremely important, of course, but, as we saw with the discussions between many Pharisees and Jesus, even when a fact is stated, there will always be disagreements. Let's focus on what we can agree upon at this moment in time.

Allow the creation story to wash over you. Allow it to show you who I am and what creation looks like. I created you in My image, to do the things that I do and say the things that I say. (John 5:19) As you read the creation story learn how to create and use this knowledge to benefit the world and the lives of others. I am not talking about manifesting, that is a different discussion. I am talking about being made in My image and following in My footsteps.

Do not try do what I do for the sake of only yourself, although I am happy to make sure you have enough. If you look at what you want and what is needed by those around you and combine the two you will find great power in your creative words.

The creation benefited both Me and all of My children. It was self-centered and other centered all at the same time or you could say it fulfilled My desires and your desires at the same time. This is the sign of a good creation…it impacts you and many others positively and beyond your own generation.

Now, look at what you desire, what you desire for those around you, and speak into existence the things of this world that support both heaven and earth, Me and you, you and others, and make sure there is love at the center of it all. Then your words of creation will be powerful.

Have some fun with it too. Creation is a serious business but, it is also meant to create awe and be fun for those who are speaking life into existence. Remove yourself from darkness and let the light shine in. If you have anything against someone else or if there is anyone who has anything against you go work that out first and then return to your creating (Matt 5:23-24). It will be much easier and more powerful.

Partner with Me and My power – that is the true source of what you are doing and speaking out. It is not your power that creates. It is My power flowing through you, as it was intended when I made the choice to live in you (1 John 3:24). Be connected with ME. That is the true completion of everything you want and desire. I am your every desire. The creation and all that is in it is to satisfy your needs and to lead you to Me. It is not the be all and end all in its current state. It is a stepping stone until the new heaven and new earth are formed.

Learn all you can, so that when the new earth and new heaven are ready to be formed you will have the immense pleasure of getting to participate in bring it to fruition.

But remember, I am ultimately what you want. I am the bread of life. I am the Alpha and Omega, I am the almighty God who loves you dearly. Speak out My words, connect with Me and know that I am your God and you are My people (Ezekiel 36:27-28) and we will create together.
